WASHINGTON D.C., JULY 1, 2026 – The Canadian American Business Council (CABC) is hopeful for the renewal of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). While the Parties continue with discussions and reviewing the Agreement, we remain optimistic that the Agreement will ultimately be renewed.
The USMCA is a critical pillar of our trade relationship, enabling bilateral economic and national security. The preservation of this critical Free Trade Agreement is key to the economic health of business, consumers, and everyday Americans and Canadians.
Free trade has been central to the U.S.-Canada economic relationship for decades, supporting jobs, growth, and economic security. The North American supply chain is deeply integrated and the USMCA is critical to our shared prosperity, underpinning the nearly $2 trillion in goods and services trade within the region.
As the Parties continue their discussions, the business community stands ready to support efforts that enhance competitiveness, strengthen supply chains, and create opportunities for workers and businesses across the continent. While the review process continues, maintaining stability, predictability, and open dialogue remains essential.
The CABC looks forward to continued engagement with policymakers to ensure North America remains the most competitive economic region in the world.
